Studio Policies
As a part of our effort to create a consistent and comfortable atmosphere in which our students can learn and grow, we have devised policies that encourage good attendance and respect for teachers and students. Below is a general overview of our policies — for our full policies, please refer to the policy section of the Customer Portal.
Class Scheduling
Students should arrive and be ready for class a few minutes prior to their scheduled class time. Under no circumstances should a child arrive or be left waiting more than 10 minutes before or after his or her class. Students arriving to class after their warm-up period may be required to observe that day for their own safety.
Attendance
Attendance on a regular basis is necessary in order for students to receive the maximum benefit of dance classes. No tuition adjustments will be made due to absences, extended or otherwise. Make-up classes are available for unavoidable absences (illness, injury, family emergencies) and when class cancellations are made by the studio (inclement weather, etc).
Make-up Scheduling
Make-up classes are available for unavoidable absences (illness, injury, family emergencies, or observance of a religious holiday for which the studio is not closed), and for weather closings (see Inclement Weather Policy below). Holidays closings recorded on our Studio Calendar are not eligible for make-ups. Make-up classes are also not available for planned events such as family vacations or school program performances. Make-up classes will not be offered after May 1st, as classes will be focusing on their specific recital dances.
Eligibility – In order to be eligible for a make-up class, the Studio office must be notified of the student’s absence as soon as possible.
Scheduling – Make-up classes can be requested using the Customer Portal or requested by phone or in person at the Studio Office. Make-ups should be scheduled within three weeks of the student’s absence. Please be sure to notify the Studio Office if a scheduled make-up class needs to be changed or cancelled.
Inclement Weather
We are no longer automatically following Fairfax County Public School’s (FCPS) closings and delays regarding inclement weather conditions. When there is a studio closing due to inclement weather we will send out an email to the primary account e-mail listed in our customer portal; we will also post to our Facebook page, and our Instagram account. Make-up lessons will be available for such cancellations. Parents – please make sure your information is up to date in order to get the latest notices for us.
Classroom Behavior
For the safety of our students, no gum, eating or beverages other than water are allowed in any of our classrooms. If you must eat before class, please do so in the lobby and discard any trash in the outside trash cans. Cell phones must be silenced and kept in the students dance bag for the duration of class.
Withdrawing From Classes
Appropriate action is necessary to withdraw a student from class(es). A 4-week written notice (an Ending Enrollment form) is required, and tuition will be charged for 4 weeks after an Ending Enrollment form has been signed and turned in to the office. Please refer to the policy section of the Customer Portal for more information. Registration fees are always non-refundable. Please note your account will continue to be billed until the withdrawal is official.
Use of Security Technology
Centreville Dance Academy is committed to the safety and security of our students and faculty by integrating with technology. Video security cameras are located throughout the CDA facility to monitor and survey CDA property for safety, security and to aid law enforcement. Any recording shall be done with recognition of the reasonable expectation of privacy among members of the CDA community.
